PhY is an art installation that results from the research taken out by Mr. Juanli Carrión (artist, Spain/US) and Ms. Blanca de la Torre (curator, Spain) following a 10 day trip along the Yamuna river, from Yamuna Nagar to Allahabad. PhY is a multidisciplinary work that combines video, action, research documentation and a mural installation made of natural food dyes and the pollution found in the Yamuna River. PhY intends to raise awareness through art about the situation of the Yamuna. The art installation reflects on the need to act urgently and decisively, seeking the active engagement of both local and international actors in the effort to rejuvenate our water courses and tackling pollution.

The Embassy of Spain in India remains committed to the Yamuna river rejuvenation. Last year, the Embassy presented The Yamuna River Project, in collaboration with the Delhi Jal Board and the University of Virginia. The project was praised as being the only suitable solution for the effective rejuvenation of the Yamuna and its natural, human and economic systems. PhY is an artistic invitation to acknowledge the problems than the river faces and to engage on the solutions that The Yamuna River Project proposes
