As the city continues to grapple with its massive urban growth, traditional rural activities being carried out on the peripheries of the city are coming into closer contact with urban expansion, placing a huge pressure on people’s livelihoods and their source of sustenance. The Bhalswa Dairy Village lacks  proper planning and basic amenities, with people and cows living in highly unhygienic conditions.  Surface runoff from dairy farming activities is polluting the open fields and Bhalswa lake, while dairy farmers have to travel long distances each day to sell milk. The proposal focuses on imagining a new sustainable model for the urban dairy village where the functions of living, production, and recreation are combined into a hybridized spatial idea.
