Various municipal, state and central government agencies govern and regulate the territory of the Yamuna and its drains and sub-drains. The complexity of Delhi’s governance and the resulting difficulties of administrative coordination have played an important role in contributing to the degradation of Delhi’s Yamuna. Surmounting the problems posed by Delhi’s governance is essential to revitalizing the river and its tributaries.
